Dr. Maria Pujana, a physician, a clinical neurologist and neurophysiologist, is a faculty member at Case Western Reserve University’s Global Health in the School of Medicine.
Her fields of concentrations are Economic Development, Public Health, Education Arts and Culture and International Affairs.
Dr. Pujana was a member of the Board of Directors of the Cleveland Foundation from 2002 to 2012 (Chair of Advisory and Selection Committee for Scholarships), Founder and Chair of the International Committee, Invest on Children Partner Member. She is a member of the MetroHealth Foundation Board, The Cleveland Red Cross (Chair of the International Affairs and Services Committee), The Advisory Board of the Cleveland Institute of Art, and the Helen Moss Cancer Research Foundation, Member of the Cleveland Office of Minority Health Advisory Committee.
Dr. Pujana, Marisé, is the President and Designer of Marise Designs. A line of fine and fashion jewelry that accessorized “Pasarela Cibeles Fashion Week” in Madrid Spain for five years. Each piece of jewelry in the Maria Pujana line is made by hand of the finest natural materials including gold, silver, gemstones, coral, amber and pearls. For daytime and evening wear, the line includes an extensive array of individually crafted jewelry designs to fit any occasion. Maria also transforms and redesigns old, forgotten or antique pieces into unique creations to fit individual styles, personalities and tastes.
Philanthropy is central to her mission as a designer. Marisé often donates special pieces from her collection to raise financial support for organizations and issues that are important to her.
Most notably, on September 27, 2000 Marisé donated a piece of her jewelry collection to benefit “Casa del niño” in Washington DC. “Casa del niño” is a project of Oscar De La Renta in favor of orphan children in the Dominican Republic. Marisé attended the “Christmas in September Luncheon” and presented her donation to Oscar De La Renta in this event.
Marisé’s Jewelry Collection have been featured in Vogue, Hola/Hello Magazine, Latina Style, The Plain Dealer, Sun Newspapers, Currents, Selecta, and Cadena Magazine.
Dr. Pujana received the 2011 Distinguish Ohioan Award; the 2010 TiE Ohio Community Catalyst Award; the 2009 YWCA Women of Achievement Award; the 2008 Visionary Award from the Hispanic Business Association; 2003 Business Woman of the Year from Score Magazine (USA); the 1997 Titan of Style from The Sun Newspapers and Nordstrom.
She is a member of the Leadership Cleveland Class of 2005.
